NCI was responsible for the conversion of 2 abandoned railroad bridges to carry bicycle traffic over the Sandusky River and Little Bark Creek in Fremont, Ohio. We performed an inspection and superstructure analysis for each bridge to ensure they were safe for the proposed loadings. The bridge rehabilitations involved replacing the railroad ties with a reinforced concrete deck. Design work included analyzing the pedestrian fence for railing loads, and designing the concrete deck including large cantilevered overhangs.
