NCI was responsible for the survey; design; and preparation of plans, specs, and bid documents for the boat ramp improvement project at Lake Lumberjack in Fostoria, Ohio. Funding and oversight for this project was provided by an Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft Grant. Topographic survey was performed at the site, including bathometric survey of the lake bottom within 150’ of the proposed ramp location. The boat ramp was designed to be compliant with the ODNR’s Ohio Boating Facilities Standards and Guidelines as well as ADA Accessibility Guidelines. The boat ramp included an asphalt approach apron, textured concrete ramp pavement, concrete abutment, and removable floating dock. The existing gravel parking lot located adjacent to the ramp was also expanded, regraded, and repaved to provide 10 parking spaces, including 6 oversized spaces for trailers. NCI utilized AutoTurn to check turning movements of vehicles with trailers moving to and from the boat ramp. Permit applications were submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Local Floodplain Coordinator prior to construction.
