Northwest Consultants, Inc. was responsible for providing engineering services, including field surveying, preparation of bid plans, detailed design and construction services for the upgrade of approximately 3,250 LF of 6” water main to 8” water main on Dewey Avenue and Fleming Avenue within the City of Jackson, Michigan. Water main was designed to be installed using directional drilling methods to minimize service/traffic disruption and preserve large/established trees lining each roadway. In conjunction with water main upgrading, portions of the roadway, sidewalk and driveways were replaced.
The water main design was prepared in accordance with City and State standards. The design included full survey, records research, and plan preparation. Existing records were researched for location of water main services. Existing services were replaced to the water shutoff valve including potential lead part replacement. NCI prepared and obtained the MDEQ permit (W179010) for the project.
Construction administration included on-site Inspection. Our Inspectors prepared daily inspection reports on site conditions, quantities, and notable events that occurred during construction. Construction administration also included coordination with the City contracted materials testing firm and performing Office Technician duties using FieldManager for preparation of IDRs, Contract Modification, and Pay Estimates.
